Passenger and the Golden Thread

We’ve all wondered at some point in time, whilst sauntering past a crooning busker, whether that spattering of sliver coins in the bottom of the guitar case could ever really amount to much more than a can of beans and end of day bread. Well, it does if you’re damn brilliant and know how to capture the admiration and imaginations of a serious amount of passers-by. Such is the happy case for UK singer/songwriter Passenger (aka Mike Rosenberg) whose brand of heartfelt, sincere, stripped back melodies and striking lyrical poetry has amassed enough busking love to completely self-fund his latest record Flight of the Crow, which features a slew of Australian artists he’s met on his troubadourian travels.

Co-produced by Simon J Berckelman (Philadelphia Grand Jury), Flight of the Crow includes the likes of Lior, Josh Pyke, Katie Noonan, Boy & Bear, Kate Miller Heidke and other such company lending their artistic talent as a sign of musical camaraderie and mutual appreciation.

This clip for the single Golden Thread features Matt Corby (who has since transcended above and beyond a certain musician-based reality TV show which we don’t talk about anymore) and was lovingly crafted by animator animator Mark Charlton (who’s previously worked with Frightened Rabbit, The Twilight Sad and We Were Promised Jetpacks) who has created a beautiful concept which is as textural, raw and sweetly endearing as Passenger’s music.
