The seedy urban underworld of sex shops and prostitution has been busted open. Not by a crack team of law enforcement officers with government backing and an international reach; it has been revealed by a gap-toothed indie pop band formed in Cardiff, Wales.

The band is Los Campesinos! and this clip for their new single Songs About Your Girlfriend delves deep into the world of the striptease. This is not your glammed up, romanticized type of burlesque made famous by the likes of fashionista Dita Von Teese; the strippers in this video are real and this is how they earn their living.

We see the band perform on the stage of a strip club whilst the strippers themselves sit and watch, wearing masks of Los Campesinos! members. Directed by David Spearing, the exaggerated faces serve to heighten the feeling of being ogled, suggesting a simultaneous intimacy and anonymity which lies at the height of performance, no matter the performer and no matter the kind of audience.
