23-year-old Alex Winston is on her way to something big. She’s been heralded as one of the New York music scene’s rising stars, set apart from the crowd by her powerful voice and beautifully crafted songs. Her latest work, a mini-LP entitled ‘Sister Wife’, is generating heaps of buzz online, so it won’t be long now before the Detroit-born musician makes the big time.

Filmed as part of La Blogotheque’s Take Away series and directed by Nathanaël Le Scouarnec, this video for Locomotive captures a cheerful, raucous vibe that’s not as present in the recorded versions (‘Sister Wife’ is sometimes reminiscent of Joanna Newsom‘s early work). It’s strangely captivating viewing as Winston strolls around outside the Louvre with her band, clapping and singing at the top of her lungs.

The Take Away series has included performances by the likes of  Wilco and Local Natives, and gives viewers a taste of live performance from their favourite artists. The project is a collaboration between La Blogotheque and watchyoursteps.net, and you can check out more performances here.
