Megan Washington “Rich Kids” Produced by Stephen Lance and Mairi Cameron at Head Pictures
It’s too bad Megan Washington isn’t an absent-minded Apple employee, because I certainly wouldn’t mind stumbling across her phone in a bar and trawling through her contacts.
The musical all-rounder from Melbourne (by way of Brisbane) has only been on the public rader for a few years, but has managed to rack up an impressive range of collaborators during her career thus far, from members of The Cat Empire and Jackson Jackson to the Bamboos and Old Man River. Oh yeah, and some little-known, obscure artists like Keith Urban, Ben Lee and Paul Kelly.
Megan and her band Washington have recently released their fourth EP, Rich Kids. And you know what you get with a quality EP like this? A music video featuring pashing teenagers, fairy bread and choreographed vinyl unitard dances, that’s what! It feels like a surreal combination of Xanadu, Eagle vs. Shark and Mysterious Skin, with added party pies, wallpaper and sequins. In other words, it’s one of the best music videos 2010 has produced so far.
