Kristian Garrard and Luke Bergman are the duo behind Seattle’s acoustic band Thousands. Taking the recording process to the great outdoors, the band combines the raw sounds of their surroundings with their subtly charming guitar strums and vocals. The process is a result Garrard’s perception that music should be organic and as intimate as a live private performance. The recording process for their debut album The Sound of Everything was done as a live performance at various locations in Pacific Northwest, using a Zoom H2 handheld recorder.
The video above was shot in Walla Walla, Washington where the band recorded an alternative take of At The Edges, a track taken from their debut album ‘The Sound of Everything’. The duo also recorded another version at the echo-y halls of University of Washington. Listening to the same track back to back, Thousands successfully delivered two distinct performances; thanks to the additional elements of soundscapes in the recording.
The Sound of Everything is already available in the UK and will be released in the USA on 26 April.
