We’ve been mightily impressed with the New Pornographers‘ videos so far this year, particularly the star-studded clip for Moves (featuring the likes of Donald Glover and Paul Rudd). After all that, it does feel like the group have toned things down a little for their new clip Up In The Dark.
Director Jon Busby takes the band into space, (very much in the style of Daft Punk‘s One More Time) and we follow the animated group as they blast into orbit. They hover through dark space, eventually brightening up the universe by casting webs of light around an unknown planet and dragging it through an exploding galaxy. Well, that’s what we made of it anyway.
Jon Busby has also directed music videos for Dan Mangan, as well as the solo work of New Pornographers’ Kathryn Calder. He’s a director at Vancouver’s Blatant Studios and specialises in digital media and animation. The Pornographers’ latest album ‘Together’ is out now through Matador records.
