You’re A Runner, Drummer, Stunner

Berlin duo Me And My Drummer have shot themselves squarely on our radar with an incredible, dream-like video for their latest release, You’re A Runner. Directors Stephane Leonard and Martin Eichhorn get playfully surreal in a not-quite-Dali way, but rather in the way that dreams really are: bits of pieces of fragments of vignettes—a dinner table; a fight; something blowing on your face—all remembered hazily against a black background and bright lights.

Me And My Drummer’s vocals are the most striking element to You’re A Runner – they float somewhere between Lykke Li and Laura Marling—there’s just enough of a bitey punch to make this a truly powerful song. As their record label Sinnbus puts it- “…an incredible voice, singing for her dear life, making requests and demands, challenging you, dreaming and floating on a dense musical ride, picking up speed and gaining momentum.”

There’s odd and uncomfortable instances in this video—like dreams always contain—but what’s most enchanting is that super slowed down footage, that light capturing every single fleck of sweat and dust lingering in the air and that crispness of white skin against a velvety black.
