Chazwick Bundick, the man behind the Italo disco, jazz, and ’70s r’n'b melting pot that is Toro Y Moi, talks to Pitchfork TV behind the scenes at this year’s Pitchfork Music Festival.  The talented musician and producer known for his pioneering of the chillwave movement of last summer talks openly about the pros and cons of being a successful musician.

In the space of two years, Toro Y Moi’s studio albums ‘Causers Of This’ and ‘Underneath The Pine’ as well as his most recent EP ‘Freaking Out,’ an extension of the latter, have been met with critical acclaim for his unique brand of washed-out electronica with layers of cut-up beats and keyboards topped with Bundick’s signature high-pitched singing.  Drawing influences from the late funk movement on his newer work, Bundick has let chillwave take a back seat and dancehall take over our senses.

The humble South Carolina native speaks candidly between footage of his impressive set at the festival about his feelings on touring and playing the same songs continuously, the perks of playing festivals from a technical perspective and the energy which surrounds such big events.  Bundick then goes on to explain the stark contrast between 2010 and 2011′s releases, from ditching segues between tracks and generally making ‘Underneath The Pine’ more danceable and resonate better to a live setting.
