Susan Blond on Revel In New York
We have all discovered the stirring life that New York artist Andy Warhol absorbed. We have witnessed his manic existence through his works and films, not to mention the countless biographical books released since his death. This snippet is no exception.
In this documentary, Andy Warhol star and publicist Susan Blond shares what it was like working side by side with the artist. Warhol instantly took a liking to big-haired Blond, expressing his fondness for her name and voice. The rest is history. Since first meeting the artist Blond appeared in numerous Paul Morrisey and Warhol collaborations. The documentary above focuses on her small role in 1977 comedy Bad, the final film produced by Warhol’s studio. Following the usual pattern, the feature received mixed responses from critics, questioning how much acid was needed to dream it up.
Following her Warhol days, Blond worked as a publicist for some of the biggest names, including the moon walker himself, Michael Jackson. Dreary office days were few and far between.
The entrepreneur takes time to reflect on the wild days working with Warhol. She explains that she now has a son but this ‘wild stuff’ is part of her past, ‘you know it’s all art.’ It’s not everyday you hear stories about mums and dads hanging with one of the most notable and wackiest personalities of their time.
The documentary was produced by Scott Newman and Marc Santo of Revel In New York.
