Laura Marling’s soaring voice and folk music has inspired critics, fans and fellow musicians all over the world, including the guitar-weilding Ryan Adams.
A gushing tale if ever there was one—both musicians have confessed their veneration of each others’ talents—Laura dropped Ryan’s name on song #1 of her debut album, and Ryan admits to Laura’s definitive sound being a driving influence throughout his new record ‘Ashes & Fire’. In this video he even says this caused him to start over with a new seriousness to his craft. Is this some kind of exclusive mutual fan club?
The two finally hooked up last week at London’s Abbey Road studios to record a mesmerising duet of Oh My Sweet Carolina. Their made-for-each other vocals and raw acoustic arrangement (that harmonica!) are making indie-music fans foam at the mouth. The rendition is sweetly mesmerizing and nothing less than what we would expect from the profound artists.
The recording comes a month after Ryan’s latest album was released, and as he prepares to tour the US. Laura is finishing up her UK cathedral tour for her third album ‘A Creature I Don’t Know’.
